“I haven’t cooked so much in ages!”

Posted in The Chef's Toolbox with tags , , , , , on November 23, 2008 by lickthebowlcomau

home-made-pizzaThe really gratifying thing about The Chef’s Toolbox products and parties is that they re-ignite that passion for cooking in people.  Seriously, even those who would previously rather eat the cardboard pizza box instead of lighting the stove have reported that they are back in the kitchen and loving it.

Think of it this way …

To buy a chain-store pizza, you need to wait about 30-60 minutes before it arrives.  You could pick it up sooner but the thought of getting in the car when you’d rather not change out of your jammies or find your shoes, is just too much.

Keep your ingredients on hand
You can literally make a Stove Top Pizza in under 30 minutes!  It’s SO easy and the results are far better, healthier and tastier than anything that can be dropped off at your door.  Just keep handy some plain flour, self raising flour, a pack of yeast sachets, some pizza cheese and anything else you’d care to throw on top of it.  While it’s cooking, you clean up the few utensils you used and put the ingredients away and by the time that’s done, your pizza is ready!

So many of my customers comment that they’d now rather whip up a Stove Top Pizza in their Chef’s Toolbox Saute Pan than bother with calling a chain pizza store.  Others have quickly built their repertoire to include risotto, pizza scrolls, chicken and leek pie, and lots of other recipes that you can find at Lick The Bowl or on the Chef’s Toolbox website.

Turn over a new leaf in the kitchen
“I haven’t cooked so much in ages!” is a familiar cry, and it’s usually followed up by “AND I’m enjoying it!” Now that’s the real telling point!  To be in the kitchen and not feeling a sense of drudgery is just gold!

How to hold an online or catalogue ‘party’

Posted in The Chef's Toolbox with tags , , , on October 25, 2008 by lickthebowlcomau

Ok so the word ‘party’ could be considered a bit of a misnomer here but what I mean when I say ‘party’, is a collection of orders from your friends and family, with the goal of achieving valuable host gifts for yourself.  This is, of course, in addition to having the opportunity to shop from home.

What’s the difference between an online party and a catalogue party?

An online party is held, literally, online, but not at any given time.  I will send you an email invitation that you can forward to whomever you like, and in the email is a link which, when clicked on, takes the invitee to a special page on the Chef’s Toolbox website.  Any orders placed via that link will go towards your sales and will help you to achieve higher value host gifts.

A catalogue party is where you hand Chef’s Toolbox catalogues around to friends, family, work associates and anyone else you choose, and ask them to hand their orders and payments in to you by a certain date.  You then pass those on to me and I will compile it all into a ‘party’ order for you.  You still get to choose from all the regular host gifts as if you’d held a cooking party at home.

Why hold online or catalogue parties instead of a cooking party at home?

There are many reasons why a host would choose a catalogue, online or home cooking party.  People are busy and often frazzled.  They like to be given a choice.  And sometimes, an in-home cooking party is not possible or may not be practical.

Online parties – Best for people who have just moved to a new area and don’t know anyone but still want to receive lovely host gifts for collecting a number of orders.  Also great if you have friends and family who live interstate, or even too far away to consider driving over for a cooking demo.  With an online party, it’s SO simple because each person pays for their own order via credit card on the Chef’s Toolbox site, and their individual order is posted to their address.  It doesn’t get any easier than that!

Catalogue parties – Some people don’t like to feel as though they are imposing on their friends and family by inviting them to an in-home cooking demo.  I’m not here to convince anyone to leap out of their comfort zone!  By simply showing the catalogue around at work, school, kindy, the gym, the hairdressing salon and the neighbourhood, it’s easy to gather some orders and achieve some great gifts.  Hosts have chosen to hold catalogue parties because their kitchen is being renovated and they want to buy new cookware.  Believe me, we can always set up a makeshift kitchen if you’d like, but a catalogue party is the next best thing.

Because I live in Brisbane and have a travelling radius of about 50kms, I welcome online parties from all over Australia.  Simply contact me and I’ll help you make it happen!

Hold your own cooking party for free at home!

Forget spending hours preparing nibblies and drinks.  Don’t stress over anything!  The whole idea behind a Chef’s Toolbox cooking party is to ENJOY yourself while viewing gorgeous kitchenware, whipping up a couple of recipes and getting together with friends.

EASY PEASY!

This is how easy it is, in a nutshell:

  • Phone 6 or more friends, or post or email their invitations.  I’ll even give you the invitations whether cards or an email you can forward.  Invite 10-15 so that 6-10 will come along.
  • I’ll give you all the information you need, and basically all you have to do is buy a small list of inexpensive ingredients and have them in your fridge when I arrive.  Don’t chop them or prepare them in any way as that’s part of the fun we’ll be having.
  • I’ll remind you a couple of days before the party, ask how you’re going and offer you any help you might need.
  • On the day of the cooking party, I’ll arrive about half an hour early and set up a simple display of the latest Chef’s Toolbox cookware and we’ll have a little chat about who’s coming and what you hope to achieve in terms of host gifts.
  • All your guests will arrive and you might like to give them a cold drink of a cup of coffee or tea, but don’t fill them up.  They’ll need their appetite intact for the cooking demo!
  • I’ll introduce myself, then I’ll show off the lovely Chef’s Toolbox range for a couple of minutes and then we’ll all move to the kitchen and get cooking!  Everyone’s invited to muck in and stir, cut, chop, pour or whatever it takes to prepare the easy recipes you will have chosen in advance.  Whilst the recipes are on the stove or in the oven, we’ll all get back to looking through the catalogue, everyone can have a play with the products, ask questions and hopefully, place their orders!
  • Once the dishes are ready, everyone can be served and enjoy their treats with tea, coffee or a drink.  A glass of wine usually goes down a treat!
